Wawancara Harian Seputar Indonesia dengan Maher Zain

Membawa aliran musik islami yang modern, membuat nama penyanyi asal Swedia Maher Zain kian populer. Fansnya datang dari berbagai belahan dunia, termasuk Indonesia.

Pemilik album ‘Thank You Allah’ ini pun sengaja datang ke Indonesia menemui ribuan penggemarnya dengan menggelar konser bertajuk Konser Silaturahim untuk Indonesia di tiga kota sekaligus. Sebelum konser yang dipersembahkan oleh Sony Music Indonesia, DNA,danVelver Production digelar di Bandung (6/10), Surabaya (8/10), dan Jakarta (9/10),Maher kemarin menyempatkan diri bertemu dengan beberapa media. 

Dalam pertemuannya dengan harian Seputar Indonesia, Maher bercerita tentang masa kecilnya, John Legend sebagai idolanya,kesuksesan albumnya, rencana konser di Indonesia,hingga kebanggaannya dengan revolusi yang sedang terjadi di Timur Tengah. 

Bisa ceritakan tentang album ”Thank You Allah”? Sudah berapa negara yang Anda kunjungi selama rangkaian promosi ini?

Alhamdulillah,saya sudah mengunjungi banyak negara di Eropa ,Amerika, Kanada, Asia Tenggara,Australia,Afrika,dan TimurTengah.Dan insya Allah, saya masih akan melakukan promosi ke beberapa negara lainnya dalam waktu dekat ini. 

Apa misi utama Anda ketika ingin membuat album ini? 

Saya hanya ingin membuat orang-orang (muslim) bangga dengan identitas mereka. Saya juga ingin mereka terinspirasi untuk melakukan hal-hal baik dan positif. 

Memangnya,musik seperti apa yang Anda dengarkan pada saat masih anak-anak? 

Saya mendengarkan berbagai macam musik.Dari musik tradisional China,jazz,sampai rock n roll.Tapi memang saya lebih banyak mendengarkan musik pop modern. 

Apakah Anda punya musisi pop yang diidolakan? 

Ada.Saya sangat suka dengan John Legend.Kepiawaian dia dalam bernyanyi dan memainkan piano itu sangat keren.Lagu-lagu yang dibuatnya juga mengandung makna yang sangat berarti bagi orang banyak,termasuk saya. 

Lalu,apa yang membuat Anda memilih untuk melakukan konser di Indonesia kali ini? 

Hmm...saya kan menyanyikan lagu-lagu islami dan Indonesia adalah negara yang paling banyak memiliki penduduk beragama Islam.Kami juga sudah mempunyai penggemar di sana sejak beberapa tahun lalu,dan inilah saatnya kami mengadakan tur ke Indonesia sehingga penggemar kami dapat menikmati konser musik yang sangat berarti. 

Pada tiga konser di Indonesia ini,berapa banyak lagu yang akan Anda bawakan? Dan apakah Anda akan memberikan sesuatu yang spesial untuk penggemar di sini? 

Saya sangat senang bisa menggelar konser pertama kalinya di Indonesia.Insya Allah saya akan membawakan semua lagu yang ada di album ”Thank You Allah”. Saya yakin kalau nanti saya akan mendapatkan momen yang menyenangkan di konser ini. Untuk sesuatu yang spesial? Insya Allah akan ada. Makanya kalian harus datang dan melihatnya sendiri. 

Apakah Anda tahu kalau sambutan orang Indonesia atas album Anda ini sangat besar? Apa yang Anda rasakan atas hal itu? 

Iya,alhamdulillah,saya tahu kami mendapat respons yang sangat baik di Indonesia. Respons itu juga yang membuat kami mendapatkan gelar sebagai Best-Selling International Album.Penggemar musik kami di Indonesia juga yang membuat album ”Thank You Allah”ini terjual sebanyak jutaan kopi.

Dan,rasanya itu melebihi Justin Bieber dan Lady Gaga.Karenanya,saya merasa sangat beruntung dan senang dapat menjadi salah satu artis yang karyanya sangat dinikmati oleh orang Indonesia. 

Tentang kolaborasi dengan Fadly ‘Padi’,apakah kamu tahu tentang dia sebelum akhirnya berkolaborasi dengannya? 

Saya bisa bertemu dan berkenalan dengan Fadly itu dari label yang menaungi saya, yaitu Awakening Records.Dari sanalah kami akhirnya memutuskan untuk berkolaborasi dan membuat rekaman duet. 

Tentang lagu Sepanjang Hidup, apa yang membuat Anda mau mengeluarkan effort yang besar dengan menyanyikannya dalam bahasa Indonesia? 

Sebenarnya ini adalah permintaan dari penggemar saya di Asia Tenggara.Mereka meminta saya untuk membawakan lagu For The Rest of My Life dalam bahasa Indonesia.Lagu ini pun menjadi lagu yang sangat populer di kawasan Asia Tenggara.

Karena itu,kami memutuskan untuk membuat lagu itu dalam versi bahasa Indonesia. Saya merasa sangat senang dapat belajar bahasa baru dan saya juga senang bisa menyanyikan lagu dengan berbagai macam bahasa.Adapun yang paling menyenangkan dalam hal ini adalah ketika orang-orang menyambutnya dengan baik. 

Apa penilaian Anda tentang Indonesia? Apakah Anda memiliki perasaan yang cukup akrab dengan Indonesia? 

Indonesia itu negara yang sangat indah.Tapi,sampai saat ini saya hanya baru sempat berkunjung ke Jakarta.Saya sudah lihat fotofoto tempat menarik lainnya di Indonesia dan berharap dapat mengunjungi daerahdaerah eksotis di Indonesia, seperti Pulau Bali dan pulaupulau lainnya. 

Tentang tanah kelahiran Anda,Lebanon,Anda lebih senang dikenal sebagai penyanyi berdarah Lebanon atau Swedia,mengingat Anda memulai karier di Swedia? 

Saya pindah ke Swedia sejak umur 8 tahun.Jadi,saya menghabiskan awal masa kecil saya di Lebanon.Tapi saya tumbuh besar,sekolah,dan kuliah di Swedia.Teman-teman saya juga kebanyakan dari Swedia.Tapi,tetap saja,akar saya adalah Lebanon.Jadi,saya lebih suka menyebut diri saya sebagai seseorang berdarah Lebanon dan Swedia. 

Sebagai seorang Lebanon, apakah Anda punya tanggapan tentang perang yang saat ini terjadi di Tanah Arab? Katanya Anda punya persembahan khusus untuk mereka yang berjuang di perang Arab saat ini?

Saya tidak bisa mengklaim kalau saya ambil bagian dalam perang di kawasan Arab. Apa yang sedang terjadi di Arab adalah sebuah revolusi besar yang terjadi atas kehendak Allah dan dilakukan oleh kaum muda yang tidak menginginkan lagi kepemimpinan yang diktator dan korupsi. 

Mereka menginginkan hak mereka untuk mendamegiza_patkan kedamaian tanpa menggunakan senjata.Saya selalu mengikuti apa yang

di sana dan keberanian kaum muda yang ikut dalam peperangan ini membuat saya terinspirasi untuk menulis lagu berjudul Freedom.

Biodata Maher
Maher Zain adalah penyanyi R&B Swedia, penulis lagu dan produser musik yang berasal dari Lebanon. Album pertamanya Thank You Allah, dengan 13 lagu dan dua lagu bonus dirilis pada 1 November 2009. Dia bernyanyi terutama dalam bahasa Inggris, namun juga, antara lain, dalam bahasa Perancis, Arab, Urdu, Turki, Melayu, dan Indonesia . Lagu yang berkesan menurutnya adalah lagu dengan judul Thank you Allah. Karena lagu tersebut diakui mewakili perjalanan hidupnya.

Maher Zain adalah seorang munsyid kelahiran Lebanon, pada 16 Maret 1981 . Pada usia 8 tahun, Maher Zain pindah ke Swedia. Maher Zain adalah penyanyi R&B , penulis lagu dan juga seorang produser musik. Maher Zain juga tinggal di Amerika Serikat, album debutnya Thank You Allah mendapatkan penghargaan Platinum. Maher juga bernyanyi dengan bahasa Inggris,Urdu,Turki,Melayu dan juga Perancis.

Berawal dari mengagumi musik,dalam usia 10 tahun maher telah menguasai keyboard.Maher juga termotivasi oleh ayahnya yang juga seorang musisi handal di kota Tripoli, Libanon.Menurut Maher,“Saya sangat mencintai dunia musik, namun saya tidak menyukai hal-hal yang ada di sekilingnya.”

Pada Ahirnya Maher Zain menemukan keraguan bermusik,Maher bertemu dan bergabung dalam komunitas Muslim yang ada di Stockholm. Sejak saat itu Maher Zain,aktif dalam kegiatan masjid dan merasa lebih berarti dari pada sebuah rumah baginya.

Maher juga pernah menjelaskan bahwa lagunya dedikasi kepada ibunya agar terus menjadi bahagia,bukan lagu yang membuat sedih ibunya. Fadly dari band Padi Indonesia juga berkontribusi terhadap lagu Maher Zain yang berjudul “Untuk Rest Of My Life” dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Nama Fans Maher Zain di Indonesia adalah MZIFC (Maher Zain Indonesia Fans Club). 

Maher Zain baru saja melakukan Konser Sillaturahmi Indonesia di Bandung tanggal 6 Oktober, Surabaya 8 Oktober dan Jakarta tanggal 9 Oktober.
